Aircraft Rental Policy

At Buckeye Flight Academy, we value long-term training relationships and a professional standard of safety. For that reason, we do not offer one-time or short-term aircraft rentals.

If you are simply interested in experiencing flight, we recommend scheduling a Discovery Flight instead.
If your primary goal is to build flight time rapidly without ongoing training or local commitment, Buckeye may not be the right fit for your needs.

Note: A thorough and effective flight review cannot typically be completed within the FAA’s minimum one hour of ground and one hour of flight time. Buckeye instructors dedicate the necessary time to ensure a meaningful and safe review.

What is our aircraft check-out requirement?

Students who wish to use an aircraft without an instructor must complete a checkout.

To ensure consistency and safety across our fleet, all renters must complete and maintain the following:

  • Initial Rental Checkout:
Conducted with a Buckeye Flight Academy instructor following our Rental Checkout & Flight Review.
  • Annual Flight Review:
A yearly flight review with a Buckeye instructor using the same syllabus is required to maintain rental privileges.
  • Currency Requirement:
Renters must fly a Buckeye aircraft at least once every 30 days to remain current.
If more than 90 days have passed since your last flight, a short proficiency session with an instructor will be required before solo rental privileges resume.
  • Aircraft Type Checkouts:
A checkout is required for each aircraft make and model. However, once your initial rental checkout is complete, transitioning between similar aircraft may only require pattern work and landings with an instructor.
