Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct Part 61 flight and ground instruction in the Cessna 150.
  • Maintain accurate student training records per FAA regulations and BFA policies.
  • Uphold FAA-mandated training standards and Buckeye Flight Academy’s own quality benchmarks.
  • Assist with aircraft dispatching and daily operations as needed.
  • Keep the office and training aircraft clean, organized, and ready for flight.
  • Enter all flight and ground times in FlightCircle.com promptly.
  • Act as an ambassador for Buckeye Flight Academy—promote a positive, safety-first culture.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the flight school’s mission.

What We’re Looking For

  • Certifications:
    • FAA-issued CFI certificate (single-engine).
    • Valid FAA Third-Class Medical.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 200 hours in a Cessna 150 (required).
    • 100 hours of flight instruction provided (preferred).
    • Willingness to commit to a minimum two-year engagement with BFA.
  • Skills & Attributes:
    • Meticulous attention to detail and paperwork.
    • Self-motivated—able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Creative problem-solver—identifies ways to save time and money.
    • Adaptable to shifting priorities and changing flight schedules.
    • Reliable and punctual—communicates proactively if appointments must change.
    • Cheerful, professional, and passionate about teaching and aviation.

Compensation & Perks

  • Tiered Contractor Pay: Starting rate $40/hour, increasing at 250, and 500 hours flown at BFA.
